Yokohama Chukagai at Night

Welcome to the largest Chukagai 中華街 or Chinatown in Japan. One of the largest in Asia. And a place so lively and colorful you’ll never tire of it. At least, I don’t 🙂

Yokohama Chukagai is one of Yokohama City‘s far-from-hidden gems.

Welcoming you!

Welcoming you!

The food is awesome, needless to say, but you don’t even have to eat a thing to enjoy strolling around this town (though the aroma of food wafting through the air would easily melt your resolve).

If it’s your first time to go there, I suggest that you download the map and orient yourself with the general layout of the area.

Like most Chinatowns it’s lively during the day. But I especially like the town at night, with the colorful lights and the aroma of dinner cooking 🙂

Getting There

It’s a 5-minute walk from the Chukagai exit of the JR line’s Ishikawacho station.

  1. Beautiful pics! Very colorful. Now I want to visit my city’s Chinatown to see if I can take colorful pics too. ^^

    • Hey Mel! Thanks so much for dropping by! I’m glad you like the photos 🙂 Go, I’m sure Sydney has a huge Chinatown as well. Would love to see your pics! Let me know where I can view them 😉

  2. Amazing!

  3. I always like Chinatowns everywhere. Binondo in Manila is a fun place to visit. Last time I went there after a run in Roxas Blvd., we got really cheap, very cold soymilk. Extremely refreshing!

Ah, soymilk! 🙂 Haven’t drank that in years. I wish you were here so we could go on runs together. It’s lonely running/walking by oneself and I’m too slow (and lack the stamina) to join a running group…
